Disney fans rejoice! As we get ready to say goodbye to Splash Mountain for good in the domestic Disney Parks, we’re taking a look back at the way this original Disneyland attraction was opened. If you grew up in the '80s or '90s, you’re sure to be familiar with the name Ernest P. Worrell. Did you know that Ernest was part of the Splash Mountain grand opening marketing? On this episode we discuss the TV special “Ernest Goes to Splash Mountain,” where Ernest was the first rider of the soon to be defunct attraction. Joining me to discuss is David Pagano, the director of the upcoming documentary “The Importance of Being Ernest.” Plus, did you know that Ernest had an official relationship with Disney far beyond this TV special, and that he was even represented in two Walt Disney World theme parks? Hear about all of that and so much more as David and I take a retro trip back in time to discuss “Ernest Goes to Splash Mountain.”
